What is the LTO professional license exam?
The LTO professional license exam is the written test for anyone who will be paid to drive: jeepney, bus, taxi, truck, delivery and company drivers. RA 4136 defines a professional driver as anyone hired or paid to drive, including a person driving his own vehicle for hire. The exam is longer than the non-professional test and is followed by a practical test suited to the vehicle.
The exam format
| Who takes it | Applicants for a professional driver's license, or holders adding codes such as B1, B2, C, D, BE or CE |
|---|---|
| Number of items | 60 multiple-choice items (commonly reported; based on a 2008 LTO memorandum circular) |
| Pass mark | 45 correct out of 60 (commonly reported) |
| Practical test | Required. RA 10930 says tests for professional drivers must suit the vehicle and type of service |
| Health | No professional licence for persons with highly contagious diseases; sight and hearing must be normal (RA 4136, Sec. 22) |
| Time limit | Not published by the LTO. Our timed mock gives you 60 minutes for 60 questions. |
The item count and pass mark are widely repeated but come from an older circular. Check the current requirements, including any minimum driving experience for heavier codes, at your LTO district office.

Free official resources, and what we add
The LTO publishes the Filipino Drivers Manual, and LTO Administrative Order AVT-2015-029 requires that a reviewer of possible exam questions for the professional licence be given to applicants free. RA 4136 and the road safety laws are free on lawphil.net.
What we add: 100 original questions aimed at professional drivers, sorted by topic, a timed 60-question mock exam, and an explanation for every answer that names the law section or manual chapter.
How to prepare
- Know the DL code you need for your vehicle: B1 for vans with 9 or more seats, B2 and C for goods vehicles, D for buses, BE and CE for trailers and articulated vehicles.
- Memorise the truck and bus column of the RA 4136 speed table and the vehicle dimension limits in Sec. 9.
- Learn the penalties that hit professionals hardest: perpetual revocation for a first drunk-driving conviction (RA 10586) and P30,000 for distracted driving in a PUV or hazardous cargo vehicle (RA 10913).
- Study PUV rules: front seat passengers and seat belts (RA 8750), registered capacity and no riding on the roof or outside (RA 4136).
- Practise one topic at a time, then take full 60-question timed mocks until you score well above 45.
- Review every explanation you get wrong and look up the law section it cites.
